Cam Ward Heisman Odds: Can Miami QB Win The Heisman Trophy?

The Miami Hurricanes, a program in dire need of a resurgence, have started the 2024 season as one of the most unexpected storylines in college football and across Florida sports betting. The Hurricanes kicked off the season to their best start (4-0) and highest national ranking (No.7) since 2020, positioning themselves as one of the early favorites to secure a spot in the newly formatted College Football Playoff.

Leading the charge is their star quarterback, Cam Ward, whose exceptional performances early in the season has propelled the program forward and solidified his status as one of the best college football players in the country. Naturally, this has thrust Ward into the conversation for the sport’s most prestigious award - the Heisman Trophy.

A Washington State transfer, Ward has flourished in his senior season under Head Coach Mario Cristobal’s offense, guiding the Hurricanes to the second-best offensive unit in the country, averaging 52.3 points per game, trailing only the Ole Miss Rebels, whole lead the nation with 55points per game.

The 22-year-old is expected to set new career highs across multiple statistical categories, which will certainly elevate his NFL draft stock. As Ward’s potential of becoming an NFL quarterback gains traction, so too does the betting interest in his Heisman candidacy, with every game further strengthening his case for the award.

Ward’s quest toward the Heisman promises to be met with a thrilling battle against a field of elite college football superstars, which includes Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Colorado’s Travis Hunter - all of whom are likely NFL bound.

Ward will be looking to become the first Miami Hurricane since 1992 (Gino Torretta) to win college football’s highest honor. As each game unfolds, FloridaBet.com - Florida’s best source for the latest updates on sports betting regulation in the Sunshine State - will be closely monitoring the shifting odds of Ward’s Heisman pursuit, as well as the Miami Hurricanes’ chances to make the CFP.

The 2024 Heisman Race Heating Up

Cam Ward’s Heisman odds at BetMGM opened as high as +2000. Over the first four weeks of the season, those odds have shifted dramatically in his favor. Ward is now the frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy, a reflection of his and the team’s early stellar performances.

To find the best current value, Bet365 and DraftKings are the sportsbooks to place that wager.

Both platforms are offering +450 odds, the longest among all sportsbooks provided above, with an indicator of 18.2% of Ward securing the award.

Following DraftKings and Bet365 in second is the fairly recently-acquired Penn Entertainment sportsbook, ESPN Bet, which is offering +425 odds at 19%. BetMGM and BetRivers are offering the third-longest odds at +400 with a 20% of happening. Caesars just shortly edges FanDuel for the fourth-best valued odds at +360 compared to +350.

Odds will be subject to change as Miami welcomes conference rival, Virginia Tech, this Friday. Hurricanes are currently (-19) favorites over the Hokies. Miami has covered the spread in all of their first four games.

Over at BetMGM, the Miami Hurricanes are also the favorites (+120) over the Clemson Tigers (+250) to win the ACC. While Caesars’ Sportsbook is offering the longest odds at +2000 for the Hurricanes to win their first national title since 2001.
