Florida’s Favorite Fast Food Restaurants

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

When it comes to American cuisine, few staples set the States apart like the idea of fast food, with large cheeseburgers, salty French fries and the works being standard issue culinary fare in a uniquely American concept that started in earnest in places like Florida.

With the Sunshine State being the home of fast food giants like Burger King, PDQ Chicken and Firehouse Subs, along with sit-down joints like Red Lobster, Hooters, Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse, there’s no denying that Florida has played a huge role in modern dining in America.

Ahead of Fast Food Day on Nov. 16, FloridaBet.com took a beat from Florida sports betting and analyzed the most popular fast food chain restaurants of residents by looking at the search results of each chain from Nov. 7, 2023, to Nov. 7, 2024. We did not count coffee chains in this list.

Which Fast Food Chain is Florida’s Favorite?

As is the case with much of the country, Florida residents can’t resist the allure of the Golden Arches, with the California-born chain known as McDonald’s taking home top honors in the Sunshine State with a search interest score of four during the period in question.

McDonald’s was able to knock off Florida-born chain Burger King, which began in Jacksonville in 1953, only to place in a four-way tie for second behind the Golden Arches with a search interest score of two, ranking alongside chains like Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell.

Burger King did manage to finish ahead of five other fast food brands, including Raising Cane’s, Chipotle, Wingstop, PDQ Chicken and Checkers, which all had search interest scores of one during the period in question, showing just how much love Florida has for Ronald McDonald and company.
