Now that the holiday season is officially upon us, it’s worth wondering which Christmas drinks are the libations of choice for residents of the Sunshine State, with the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores giving us an answer to that question.
Based on those scores, we can determine that the 19th century custard-based staple known as eggnog is Florida’s favorite holiday drink, beating out peppermint mochas, mulled wine, wassail and spiced rum in a one-sided romp.
FloridaBet.com - home to all news around Florida sports betting - wanted to get into the holiday spirit by seeing what holiday themed drinks are the most popular in Florida. Using Google Trends, we conducted a search between September 19, 2024- December 18, 2024, to rank drinks by search interest scores.
Rank | Drink | Search Interest Score |
1 | Eggnog | 27 |
2 | Peppermint Mocha | 13 |
3 | Mulled Wine | 8 |
T-4 | Wassail | 3 |
T-4 | Spiced Rum | 3 |
With a search interest score of 27 points, eggnog was the runaway winner when it came to Florida’s top holiday drinks this year, more than doubling the next closest choice (peppermint mochas, at 13 points).
Mulled wine was the only other drink in Florida to net more than three points, finishing with a search interest score of eight points during the period in question, while wassail and spiced rum brought up the rear in the Sunshine State, with scores of three points apiece.
Overall, no drink could keep pace with the custard concoction that frequently is mixed with either bourbon, whiskey or rum, with the cocktail that was originally listed in The Modern Bartender’s Guide of 1878 beating out a quartet of worthy drinks for the top spot in the state of Florida this holiday season.
