Jimmy Butler Trade Rumors: Where Will The Miami Heat Star Get Traded?

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

With the Miami Heat mired squarely on the bubble of the NBA’s Eastern Conference playoff race, it’s worth wondering whether longtime front office stalwart Pat Riley will move the team’s centerpiece ahead of the league’s Feb. 6 trade deadline, shaking up the Florida sports betting scene.

That centerpiece is veteran forward Jimmy Butler, who is in the second season of his three-year, $146.3 million contract extension signed with the Heat prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, with the 35-year-old set to hit unrestricted free agency at the conclusion of the 2026-27 league year. Butler took the Heat to the NBA Finals in the 2020 covid bubble, and has long been a fan favorite in Miami. But all good things must come to an end.

Given Butler’s solid play this year, with 3.5 win shares and a player efficiency rating of 24.3 (per Basketball-Reference.com), FloridaBet.com put together some hypothetical odds on potential landing spots for the veteran should Riley opt to move him in the coming weeks.

Could Warriors Land Jimmy Buckets?

Right now, our top spot for Butler is the Golden State Warriors of the Western Conference, who check in at +1250 after starting the year 16-16 and a game ahead of the Phoenix Suns for the final play-in spot.

Overall, Golden State ranks ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets, who are co-listed at +1750 to land Butler, while the Denver Nuggets (+2500), Houston Rockets and Suns (+3000 each) are the other NBA teams on our Butler odds board currently.

Should Riley and the Heat’s brain trust opt to move Butler, they’d be moving on from a player that’s embodied Miami’s gritty playing style since arriving in South Beach back in 2019, with the veteran out of Marquette playing 312 games across six seasons with the Eastern Conference franchise.

Given the fact that the Heat currently hold -500 odds of making the playoffs on bet365 with a regular season win total over/under of 44.5, it’s far from certain that Riley and company will opt to part ways with Butler in the next month.
