After a gallant final season where he slashed and gashed his way through opposing defenses to the tune of 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground, former Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is taking his talents to the NFL, with an eye on being a first round pick in Aprilās NFL Draft.
Jeanty used his third and final year in Boise to make a 14-game statement, finishing as the runner-up to Coloradoās Travis Hunter in the Heisman Trophy race and taking home the Maxwell Award after carrying the Broncos to the schoolās first ever College Football Playoff berth.
Now, the Jacksonville native is as close to a first round lock as possible, with ESPNās Mel Kiper listing Jeanty fourth overall on his latest Big Board, while Kiperās ESPN colleague Field Yates has the former Broncos star going sixth overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL Draft.
Our top landing spot for Jeanty falls in line with Yatesā projection, with the Raiders holding +200 odds of landing the former Boise State backfield superstar, narrowly beating out the Dallas Cowboys (+250), Pittsburgh Steelers (+350) and Los Angeles Chargers (+850).
With former New England Patriots, USC and Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll arriving on the Strip, itās no wonder that the new leadership team in Las Vegas wants to start fresh offensively, which could inspire the Raidersā newfound brain trust to turn the keys over to a young star-in-the-making like Jeanty.
For now, what we know is that one lucky NFL club is about to get their hands on a generational college running back, with Jeanty heading off to the pros after rushing for 4,769 yards and 50 touchdowns in 40 games played with the Broncos, revealing himself to be one of the greatest backfield talents in the modern college football landscape.
