Dolphins Jets Spread: What The Spread Tells Us
The Dolphins-Jets spread suggests that oddsmakers are Miami to win by more than one score. In the last meeting, Miami disrupted New York on defense and the game was never in question. Oddsmakers also seem to think the home field will be an advantage for Miami, despite a prolific offense that may be short-handed.
Dolphins Jets Line: What The Moneyline Tells Us
The moneyline currently suggests that the Dolphins are expected to win this game at home. Making the long trip from the Big Apple to south Florida won't be easy for the Jets. It is, however, worth noting that the payout is more enticing for betting on the Jets to pull the upset. A $10 bet on the Jets to win would pay $35.10. Betting $10 on the Dolphins to win straight up would pay out just $5.10.
Dolphins Chances To Win vs Jets
The Dolphins split their two meetings with the Jets last season. While it should be noted that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa did not play in either contest, the Dolphins committed two turnovers in their loss and none in their victory. Minimizing mistakes and controlling the game through the ground with Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane, and Jeff Wilson will be critical to winning this game. It should also be mentioned that Miami allowed 135 yards in its October loss to the Jets and just 38 yards rushing in its January victory. Getting the Jets into long third-down situations and containing Breece Hall/Garrett Wilson would allow Miami's talented group of pass rushers to pin their ears back and go after Zach Wilson.
How The Miami Dolphins Win vs New York Jets
For the Dolphins to win vs the Jets, they will need to be able to stretch the field. Although he seemed to get away with a handful of holds last season, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner did a good job of keeping Miami wide receiver Tyreek Hill in check. Defensively, the Dolphins will need to stop a New York ground game that now consists of Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook. That will allow Miami's talented pass rushers like Bradley Chubb and Jaelen Phillips to pin their ears back and rusher the passer.
How The New York Jets Win vs Miami Dolphins
With the explosiveness that the Dolphins have on offense, the Jets will need to limit big plays. In two meetings last season, Miami had five plays that resulted in more than 20 yards. As a result, the Dolphins managed just 28 total points in the two games. Zach Wilson played one of the best games of his career last week and if he reduces the burden on the ground game, the ability to be balanced will go a long way for New York against coordinator Vic Fangio's Miami defense. The Jets finished with 135 rushing yards in their win over the Dolphins last season and just 38 in their loss.

History of Miami Dolphins New York Jets Games
Since the Miami Dolphins became an AFL franchise in 1966, they have shared a division with the New York Jets. The teams meet twice annually. Despite both teams having some success during their histories, the Dolphins and Jets have met just once in the postseason.
There have, however, been some pretty meaningful games over the years, including last season's 11-6 victory for the Dolphins in Week 18 that ultimately propelled them into the playoffs.

Miami Dolphins Record vs Jets
As is the case with Miami's other AFC East rivals, the Dolphins hold a slight edge in the all-time series. Against the Jets, Miami is 58-56-1 all-time in the rivalry.
The Dolphins have had the upper-hand in recent years. Miami has won nine of the last 11 meetings. Prior to that, it was the Jets that dominated the rivalry. From 1998 to 2015, the Jets were 24-12 against the Dolphins.
New York dominated the early parts of the rivalry, winning the first eight meetings. Miami, however, seized control during the 1970s, capturing 14 of the 16 meetings to start the decade. The Jets closed the 1970s and opened the 1980s with six straight wins over the Dolphins. The seven straight wins from 1982 through 1984 remains Miami's longest winning streak in the rivalry.
All-Time Best Miami Dolphins New York Jets Games
The two meetings between the Dolphins and Jets in 2023 have the potential to be classics. Here's a look back at three memorable meetings between the teams.
Miami 14, N.Y. Jets 0 (AFC Championship): Jan. 23, 1983
The lone playoff meeting between the Dolphins and Jets came with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. At the mud-soaked Orange Bowl, Miami's "Killer Bs" defense intercepted Jets quarterback Richard Todd five times. Linebacker A.J. Duhe came up with three interceptions in the victory, including a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown to put the exclamation point on the victory.
Miami 28, N.Y. Jets 24: Nov. 27, 1994
In perhaps the most memorable regular season win for the Dolphins in the rivalry, Miami overcame a 24-6 deficit to top the Jets at the Meadowlands. With less than a minute to play and the Dolphins trailing 24-21, Miami had made its way inside the Jets' 8-yard-line when quarterback Dan Marino signaled that he was going to spike the ball to stop the clock. Instead, Marino took the snap and fired to Mark Ingram for the game-winning touchdown with 22 seconds left. It was the fourth scoring hookup for Marino and Ingram on the day.
N.Y. Jets 40, Miami 37 (Overtime): Oct. 23, 2000
In a contest that came to be known as the "Miracle in the Meadowlands," Miami appeared on the verge of a big Monday Night Football victory. The Dolphins led 30-7 entering the fourth quarter, but the New York offense erupted with 30 points in the final quarter behind four Vinny Testaverde touchdown passes, including the game-tying toss to offensive lineman Jumbo Elliott. Following Miami quarterback Jay Fiedler's second interception of overtime, John Hall knocked home the winning field goal to complete the comeback.
